I’m sure I’ll like the Mavic Mini, I just have one small problem right now. I jumped before I bought before I should have. Turns out my approximately Samsung phone model “J-7 Refine” is not compatible with the “DJI FLY app. So now I have to wait probably 2 months before I’ll be able to get a compatible phone, another 200 to 400 dollars. Still satisfied with the purchase.LikesPriceFor beginnersBattery lifeQualitySee more

Incredible. For all those wondering “what’s the difference in the original Mavic mini and the Mini 2?” The mini 2 basically just improved everywhere the original lacked. The things that are notable are Ocusync 2, 4K video, big increase in wind resistance, and quick shots. As well as longer flight time and stronger propellor motors. This is an INCREDIBLE VALUE!!!Compared to the Mavic Air 2, they both have the same range, same quickshot modes, and both shoot 4K. If you don’t need obstacle avoidance and 48mp photos then go Mavic mini 2 all the way. You’re paying an extra $600 on the air for 48mp photos and obstacle avoidance, but with that said the camera on the mini 2 has great sharpness and contrast. You will NOT go wrong with this! For $600, this drone is a steal. Buy it, you will not regret it!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Rather than list all the new features, here are the practical differences that I noticed the most compared to the original Mavic Mini. I took this out on a very windy day with gusts >30mph. In this video, the Mini 2 holds stable in high wind. Most importantly, the range is better with OccuSync 2.0. I use this to monitor abandoned railroad tracks. The original Mini 1 would lose video reception after about 1200 feet following the tracks, hovering low between dense trees. The new Mini 2 reaches about 40% further in this dense environment, only losing the signal after it is blocked by a concrete bridge. The range difference is most dramatic, however, while flying higher with clear line of sight, where the distance is supposed to be more than double (10km is much further than I would want to test). There are 3rd party clip-on Yagi signal boosters that may extend the range even more. After the increased range, my next favorite new feature is the much improved remote controller. The Mini 1 has a bad design where larger phones, such as the iPhone Plus or Max series, do not fit on the mount, and the cable doesn’t reach with a phone case. The Mini 2 phone mount is so much better! The antenna also functions as a spring clip so the phone sits on top in a better viewing position, and the larger phones easily fit. Another wonderful design improvement is the cable storage inside the antenna compartment, so it’s easy to grab-and-go just the controller and aircraft without having to separately carry the little cable. The controller now a return to home button, and cine / normal / sport selector switch right on the controller. This is nice as it reduces the panic when I’m trying to locate the return to home on my phone screen when someone is trying to call me on my iPhone. The other new feature I love is the ability to do 4K video, wide-angle, 180°, and sphere panoramas (vs. 2.7K on the Mini 1). It’s hair-raising to see the video results play back on the computer. It feels like cinematography quality video with a cute little thing that fits in the palm of your hand.Looking closely at the two side-by-side, both models are identical in physical form, so the the same physical accessories designed for the Mini 1, such as the propeller guard will work on the Mini 2. I was curious about the weight difference so I weighed them on a precision lab scale. Mini 1 without battery: 5.27 oz. Mini 2 without battery: 5.56 oz. Mini 1 with battery: 8.68 oz. Mini 2 with battery: 8.37 oz. DJI made up for the slightly increased weight of the fancy new internals with a lighter battery design. Is there anything I don’t like about the updated model? Just one very minor thing — the kit comes with a soft padded case that is similar to a camera bag or binocular bag with a shoulder strap. I much prefer the semi-hard case that came with my original Mavic Mini Fly More Combo. The gray semi-hard case looks nicer, is easier to pack in a hurry, and offers better protection. However not a big deal, as many 3rd party accessories are available.Overall I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Mini 2, even if you already have the original Mini. (Save some time, stop reading a million reviews, and click the BUY button). Also, this would make an amazing gift for “someone who already has everything” if they haven’t tried drones before. It’s super easy to fly because of the self-correcting stabilization (just before this review I accidentally hit a tree branch and it recovered itself after doing a flip, and came back home — yay!)

Straight out of the box, you have everything you need to fly. Owning a DJI Spark, I didn’t need to learn much when it came to flying the DJI mini 2. However, the Mini 2 does use a slightly different app than the Spark. But overall, The drone flies effortlessly under calm conditions. Even with a little wind, The mini 2 seemed quite stable. I wish the Mini 2 had more LED lights flashing on the underside to make it more visible in the air. The three speed settings are very noticeable and can really help in getting that cinematic shot you’re looking for. Like most drones and their software, take the time to watch some videos on YouTube and read articles online that give you insight on how to adjust app settings like, aperture, brightness, etc. It’s quite amazing seeing the quality of footage that you can obtain from this relative low price-point drone. If you need more accessories, then spend a bit more for the more expensive bundles. I bought a propeller holder strap since the basic bundle didn’t have one. I feel that was so important to prevent your propellers from flapping around while folded up and stored. Flight time is not bad averaging about 20 -30 minutes depending on how you are flying the drone and if the wind is strong. The three axis gimbal is a great feature. the video stability is quite great for such a tiny lightweight drone. There’s no doubt it’s one of the best bang for the buck drones on the market today.

If you’re on the fence just go for it. Ive never had a drone or flown one but was up and flying in minutes. Extremely easy and user friendly app interface and controls. Just started with the DJI video editing app and made to simplify this process for quick editing. So far Im very happy, the fly more combo is a must to give you the most fly time and necessary accessories to start flying and recording video right away. I purchased this with the 128GB card included in the kit.LikesAppTechnologyFor beginnersEase of useControlSee more

UPDATE:. So a few weeks became a few months. I upgraded my review to 3 stars since DJI FINALLY made the situation right. As noted below the DJI Trade Up team did nothing to fix the situation. After 4 months, dozens of emails and being told no 3 times, DJI finally relented and allowed me a one time use of the Care Refresh program ( that was active when Trade Up jerks had my drone). So what did the repair team find? A broken gimbal arm…hmmm. the drone worked when it was sent to Trade Up in the original hard case including gimbal protector, in a box with 2in of peanut s… package was undamaged when they returned the drone…so how do you think the gimbal arm was broken? Seems like a drop at DJI Trade Up to me but we will never know.So to sum up, DJI Mini and Mini2-. Great drones, well designed good price point.DJI repair team- phenomenal, on time and honestDJI Support-. Eventually solved the problem, may have been an internal DJI issue.DJI Trade Up- horrible, not worth recommending to your worst enemy. No human deserves that.I hate to burn DJI on this review since the drone itself is excellent. However their piss-poor Trade Up program and customer service have left me no other choice after more than 8 weeks of trying and getting nowhere…I was skeptical of the Trade Up program but I figured, what the heck? They intended to give me about 50% of my Mini’s value for an ‘easy’ exchange. It was nothing like that. I started the process, recorded a video of the drone functioning and me packing it up and sent it away. It wasn’t visibly damaged in shipping but something happened because the drone they received was FUBAR so far as functionality goes. After dozens of emails with the ‘Trade Up’ team and DJI Customer service, I was left with no other choice than to have them ship back my busted drone…I didn’t break it, did they, was it shaken to much in shipping? Who knows. But I did have the Care Refresh program active at the time…and DJI refuses to fix the drone under that program as well. So, buyer beware- DJI DOESN’T GIVE A S&%T ABOUT YOU! and DO NOT use the Trade Up program. Take the extra time to sell your hardware yourself. You’ll get more money and not risk the awful experience I have had…I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. You really see how much DJI doesn’t care about it’s customers.I will be updating this over the next few weeks with videos and emails supporting my side of the experience.

I’ve had several DJI Drones over the years and this one is the best one for the money unless you just need the professional camera features of the higher end drones. Even this one has great photography capabilities with good battery flight time and range.

I just want dji company to think of stopping every customer from using the crafts in a No Zone flying area, as for i bought the products from dji company so in actuality the product/s should be again 💯% mine, and usage should be again 💯% my responsibility as long as am not breaking the law. I think in my humble Opinion Dji should a little step back and look at my points and suggestions, take a look at other companies like skydio, autell, parrot, fimi, Hudson they all done have rescriction on their aircrafts, if dji company lift the no fly Zone rescriction, the company will even make money and the responsibility to us customers.

oh yes can’t say enough good things about this product! If your new to drones go slow and YouTube is full of good advice. Make sure you watch the ones about the mini 2 before you fly because they will help. Then enjoy and maybe I’ll see you out there lolSee more
