I have bought a few drones in the past, but this is the first one with GPS and boy does it make a difference!!! My son (10) usually does are the piloting and he is quite good at controlling non-GPS drones that can easily take off with the wind. However, a GPS drone will hover in place and fight the wind for you so it’s much easier to control. The camera on this drone is also great (see pic), and although we only own a very primitive set of VR goggles, we could tell that with a proper pair the experience would be incredible. We really liked the ‘follow’ and ‘return home’ features as well. We would highly recommend this drone.See more

My 1st drone was one of those sub $100 drones. it was not GPS equipped and a lite breeze blew it all over. The app. didn’t work either. Well, with that experience behind me, I got this one and WOW!!!.. what a difference. Mine did not need to have the “Trim” set and with GPS on, with a similar lite breeze as listed above, this little drone does a great job doing it’s best to maintain it’s location. Once that was established, I then ran some video and took it up about 30ft. I then hit the button for RTH (return to home) and it came back down to the place I launched it from. While new to drone piloting, I tend to crash more than I land and while the blades do get bent up, kindly rubbing them back to alignment or near alignment make good enough for flight without any major pull towards any one direction. All in all, it’s a great first drone. The 1080 resolution is impressive for the size and price. This is light enough to NOT need FAA registration.See more

I purchased this Holy Stone HS175 and it arrived sooner than expected. After reading the instructions and charging the batteries i gave it a try. Its intuitive to fly as it follows the same conventions of other more expensive drones I’ve flown. After downloading the app I powered everything up, calibrated the drone per the instructions and it flew very easily. I took it to its max altitude and added a pic to this review. You can see the picture is very clear for a drone at this price point. It hovers well, returned autonomously to home with very good battery life. If you’re getting into drones or looking for a holiday present for someone who wants to I recommend this one. It comes with 2 batteries (which is a nice bonus), extra props, blade guards and a case. Very nice compact system.

Update 2: returned drone because of flight issues detailed in first update. Company sent me a private message offering to either pay me $100 or send me another drone to remove the negative-ish (3 star!) review. So basically, the reviews for any product from this company are worthless, since they’ll just bribe people to remove the negative ones.Update 1: drone randomly loses connection with controller and won’t respond to commands. Worked fine for 10 minutes and then lost connection while hovering 6 feet from me. Had to use phone to land. Phone connection should be less distance and is way less functional, ie no controls. Will try flying again but am leaning towards returning right now as defective. This is my first drone purchase and overall I am happy. I read a lot of reviews on the base model drones with GPS and ended up choosing this one because of the size, remote-adjustable camera angle, and accessories. HolyStone also seems to have a decent reputation in this category.Positives:- Fit, finish, appearance of drone is great. Folding mechanism is good. Light indicators help.- Extra battery included.- Other accessories are high quality. Great case.- Easy to setup and start flying (mostly).- Seems to fly well. Goes where I want it to mostly and seems pretty stable. Drifts a bit, but it’s lightweight.- Have already had a few crashes and it looks unaffected, so seems very durable despite its lightweight.Neutral:- App is straightforward, but a bit limited in functionality.- Instructions are fine, but no sd card instruction and still not 100% sure how it functions. Read another review about formatting in FAT32.Negative:- The order of operations between drone and controller can be a little frustrating. You have to pair the controller to the drone every time you turn the drone off, including when you reset after a crash. The phone will still be connected, so you’ll get through the whole calibration and then need to start over when the blades won’t unlock. Would be nice if it was permanently paired to the controller.- App has no flight controls. It has return to home and the other gps controls, so it would be nice if it had some joysticks in case you lose controller connection.- I left the antenna down on accident, flew it up too high, lost connection, and it just got stuck hovering at about 30m. No input worked, until I hit return home, and it went up and flew into a tree on the way home. So cannot restore connection to remote after losing it and it didn’t return home automatically. Makes me a little nervous to fly it very far at the moment.I will update this review after more flight time. I’m still excited to play with it and it seems capable so far, just with some software/firmware quirks.Disclaimer: they offer a reward for posting a review. It does not say anything about how many stars to leave, so at the moment, might not be sketchy. I haven’t gotten anything yet and if the drone sucks, I’ll return it and leave a 1 star review because paid reviews suck.

I’m old (54) used to build flying machines out of balsa.Never afforded an RC plane; radios in the 1980’s cost $600, engine another $200, then the plane you had to build another $75-$125, then you would crash it.Ok, I’m a commercial photographer, no this will not replace photographing from an actual airplane with a Hasselblad, or Fuji GFX50.For the price, I can do some minor legal documentation, and perhaps if I’m careful something pretty will be captured one day. This thing is almost fool proof, read the instructions and have reasonable expectations … it’s crazy cheap, but well made and it works.I was doing my real-estate dispute documentation in rural Indiana. The wind built up, and the drone disappeared when a gust of wind (40mph line was coming in) sent it sailing at 125′. I pushed the “land” button a few times, but I figured it was being blown into the next county. I said to myself, well there goes $150 and I think the photos too. Next thing I know I hear a buzzing, I let me ears tell me where to look. It must have been up 200 feet and struggling to make its way back to where I was, I punched the land button again, then realized that’s exactly what it was already trying to accomplish. After a long 90 seconds from when it “went missing” it was landing in the spot it took off from and my phone was flashing a “low battery” message from the drone.I have the video, satisfied client, and made the cost of this drone back on the first job,Crazy times we live in…Be well
